The President of Migration Management Atilla Toros, stated that the Foreigners Communication Center (YİMER) 157 also serves as an emergency assistance and reporting line for victims of various crimes, including human trafficking, domestic violence, and migrant smuggling, and reported that 15,619 people have been rescued through this center since it's establishment.

In a statement to Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent, President Toros stated that YİMER 157 has carried out significant work during the 9 years since it began operations on August 20, 2015.

Stating that YİMER 157 provides 24/7 service for emergencies, Toros added that calls involving human trafficking, domestic violence and migrant smuggling are coordinated with law enforcement units.

Stating that in case of emergency, you can directly contact the hotline by pressing the “1” button, President Toros explained that the Presidency of Migration Management, in cooperation with the Police, Gendarmerie and Coast Guard, is carrying out a determined fight against irregular migration and migrant smuggling.

President Toros noted that the fight is carried out with a migration management approach based on civilizational values, human rights and law.

YİMER 157 Received 909 Emergency Assistance Calls

President Toros said, "Based on this understanding of migration management, YİMER 157 plays an active role in rescuing victims of various crimes, including human trafficking, domestic violence and migrant smuggling. The calls of these people are quickly responded and their location information is immediately shared with law enforcement."

Stating that 909 emergency assistance calls were received in coordination with YİMER 157 and law enforcement units, President Toros informed, "15,619 people have been rescued through this center so far."

Toros reported that, within this year, 231 individuals have been rescued through calls to the emergency assistance hotline.

We Want Foreigners to Come to Our Country in Compliance with Our Laws

Stating that foreigners should come, stay and leave Turkey in accordance with the law, President Toros said that they wish to establish a continuous communication with foreigners in line with Türkiye's interests and in compliance with the legislation.

Stating that foreigners' interest in Türkiye has increased, President Toros emphasized that they want this mobility to take place in accordance with the law.

President Toros said that there are a total of 4 million 425 thousand 230 foreigners with the legal right to stay in Türkiye, including 1 million 104 thousand 353 foreigners who came to Türkiye for reasons such as education, health, tourism and work and stayed with a residence permit and those who had to leave their country and took refuge in Türkiye.

On the other hand, President Toros stated that the number of international visitors to Türkiye in 2023 was 56 million 693 thousand 837.

President Atilla Toros explained that YIMER 157 is a call center that provides information support to all foreigners in Türkiye, such as international investors, experts, scientists and asylum seekers.

President Toros stated that YİMER provides information line service between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 24/7 service as an emergency hotline.

We Received 23 Million 106 Thousand 62 Calls in a Year

Stating that through YİMER 157, information and guidance is provided on issues such as visas, residence permits, international and temporary protection that fall within the jurisdiction of the Presidency, Toros said that in addition to the YİMER 157 hotline and the website, they also respond to inquiries received via Webchat, e-mail and social media channels.

Stating that they have received 23 million 106 thousand 62 calls since its establishment, President Toros noted that YİMER 157 has won 9 international awards in the category of “Best Emergency Services” and provides services in Turkish, English, Russian, Arabic and Persian.

We Provided International Students with the Opportunity to Connect Directly to Foreigner Representatives

President Toros stated that YİMER 157 received the most requests for information on residence permit issues, and that within the framework of the protocol with YÖK for international students, students are offered the opportunity to connect directly to foreigner representatives.
