“HARMONIZATION MEETINGS 7” WAS PERFORMED IN UŞAK

The fifth stop of Harmonization Meetings was Uşak, which were organized before in the provinces of Antalya, Alanya, İzmir, Ankara, Gaziantep, Bursa and where the information about the rights and obligations of the foreigners were passed on.

In the meeting which was organized on Friday, 1 February 2019 with the aim of raising awareness of Turkey, host country, about the foreigners in our country; Mrs. Funda KOCABIYIK, Governor of Uşak; Mr. Dr. Gökçe OK, Deputy Director General; Mr. Dr. Aydın Keskin KADIOĞLU, Head of Harmonization and Communications Department; Mr. Hakan GÜNDÜZ, Deputy Provincial Director of Migration Management, and protocol members participated.

Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Funda KOCABIYIK, Governor of Uşak, underlined that the ongoing political instability in neighbouring countries encourages migration to our country much more. Governor KOCABIYIK explained that “Our country is a safe port for migrants from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan; a homeland for Meskhetian and Balkan Turks; a school for students from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Africa; a gateway to employment for migrants from Russia, Ukraine and Georgia.”

Indicating that migration which is a particular concern to Turkey also affects the province of Uşak, Governor Funda KOCABIYIK said that "Turkey has opened its doors to the refugees from Syria, Iran and Iraq. In addition, education services are provided to students from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. In the historical process, Turkey has been the hope of suffering geographies, and has exposed the feelings of peace, tranquillity, trust and brotherhood in the places it has dominated with its great culture and civilization. I hope that thanks to this precious treasure, which is in the roots of the Turkish nation, the solution of the problems that emerge along with the migrations will be provided.”

Speaking at the opening of the event, Mr. Dr. Gökçe OK, Deputy Director General, stated that they are very happy to host the foreigners living in Turkey. Pointing out that there are 4.7 million people from 190 countries in Turkey, our Deputy Director General said that “We do not accept the migrants among us as foreigners but our guests. In our ancient history, embracing migrants and guests has always taken place.”

As for Mr. Dr. Aydın Keskin KADIOĞLU, Head of Harmonization and Communication Department, he stressed in his speech that so many lies are circulating especially in the social media channels because of a number of interest groups benefiting from the conflicts between the two brother communities. Mr. Dr. Aydın Keskin KADIOĞLU, our Department Head, said that “With the belief that you do not believe in them; I would like to emphasize once again that none of the slanders such as that Syrians do not pay taxes, and receive salaries from the state are real. In addition, it has also been ensured by our Constitution, which is superior to the Laws, that no foreigners are granted more rights than our own citizens. Therefore, the claims that there are more rights of not only Syrians but also foreigners in our country are completely unrealistic.

The meeting ended after the presentations of Uşak Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, Uşak Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation Presidency, Provincial Directorate of Labour and Employment Agency, Provincial Directorate of Social Security Institution, Provincial Directorate of Security and after question and answer session.
