Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi: “YİMER 157 Has Made a Significant Contribution to Saving the Lives of 15,821 People to Date”

The Foreigners Communication Center (YİMER 157), which has proven its success through awards won on international platforms  under the auspices of the Directorate General of Migration Management at the Ministry of the Interior ,was most recently honored with a “Gold Medal” in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, played a critical role in yet another rescue  operation in the Aegean Sea. Responding to an emergency call from a boat taking on water off the coast of Izmir the centre ensured the safe evacuation of 35 irregular migrants, including infants and children.

Having won nine awards in the “best emergency response” category on international platforms since 2017, YİMER 157 was honored with the Gold Medal in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region at an event organized by Contact Center World (CCW). YİMER 157’s capabilities in corporate crisis management and interagency coordination were most recently put to effective use during the emergency alert in the Aegean Sea.

Minister Çiftçi: “True Success Is Measured by the Lives It Touches”

In a statement posted on his social media account, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi highlighted the operational capabilities and humanitarian mission of YİMER 157.

Minister Mustafa Çiftçi’s post included the following remarks:

“A boat taking on water in the middle of the sea… 35 people—including a one-year-old baby, 10 children, and an 80-year-old senior with a leg injury—are waiting for help…

At that very moment, a call comes in to YİMER 157.

In a race against the clock, the exact location is pinpointed, interagency coordination is swiftly established, and the 35 people are safely brought ashore.

This is precisely where the true strength of YİMER 157 comes to the fore.

Established in 2015 and operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, YİMER 157 has taken on a major responsibility, making a significant contribution to saving the lives of 15,821 people to date. Serving as a vital communication bridge that transforms into trust, guidance, and hope whenever needed, YİMER 157 continues its work without interruption.

Having been honored with numerous awards on international platforms and winning the Gold Medal in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region, YİMER 157 demonstrates once again that this success is no coincidence.

Because true success is measured not only by numbers, but by the lives it touches.

Being able to be the reason for a mother’s prayer, a child’s future, and a person’s renewed sense of hope is the most valuable reward one can receive.

I wholeheartedly congratulate all our staff who work day and night, and I thank them for their dedicated efforts.”
